Laser scanning can provide a detailed permanent record of a building structure. The high resolution point cloud model may be used to extract vector drawings or simply retained as a detailed record in itself. In this particular instance drawings were provided in 2 dimensions as well as 3 dimensional models of high detail areas.
Classic Car – Replica Production
In order to construct an accurate engineering form LandScope deployed one of its laser scanners to accurately model the body shape of a unique Jaguar XK13 classic sports car. Point clouds were registered to accurately installed control over the body of the vehicle which was dusted with Rocol flawfinder spray prior to scan operations to ensure appropriate reflectivity from the highly polished bodywork.
Point cloud data was used to develop accurate sections through the vehicle which were input directly to a CNC machining tool.
As part of a proposed tree preservation brace design laser scanning has been used to provide an exceptionally detailed and accurate 3D rendered model of the subject tree and all of its natural irregularities. The point cloud was utilised to design a collar to aid the tree conservation procedure.
